On Sunday evening, Broward County Mayor Dale Holness ordered all non-essential businesses to close by 12:01 am on Monday, March 23rd.
Holness said while the steps were devastating to take, he thinks it will help stop the spread of the coronavirus. As of Sunday night there were over 800 confirmed people with the coronavirus in Florida, and 13 deaths.
Essential businesses that may stay open include: healthcare providers, gas stations, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, news outlets and restaurants may offer food to-go.
Non-essential business owners may maintain minimum basic operations like; security, payroll, and setting employees up for remote work. However, they must practice social distancing and cleanliness.
